CEREC Same-Day Crowns
If you have ever bitten into something only to find that part of your tooth came off, you know how traumatic it can be to damage a tooth. A cracked tooth can feel painful, sensitive, and sharp to the tongue. Additionally, anytime your tooth structure sustains damage, its overall integrity is at risk for further damage.
At St. Anthony Village Dental Care, we offer same-day restorations so that you can protect your tooth, and your comfort, as quickly as possible.
What Is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is a protective cover that fits over your tooth structure above your gum line. A crown absorbs some of the force from chewing and protects your tooth structure by providing added stability.
A crown can prolong the life of your tooth by decades, protecting it from continued damage, deep decay, and splitting.
What Is CEREC Technology?
CEREC, which stands for chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceramics, is a computer-aided design and manufacture system for dental crowns and other restorations that eliminates the need for a third-party dental lab and multiple dental appointments.
We digitally scan your teeth instead of using old-fashioned gooey impression material that easily distorts. This offers greater control and accuracy when it comes to designing your dental crown. Next, the information transfers to our milling machine where your dental crown is created from a single piece of durable ceramic.
Dr. Joseph Osterbauer will then put the finishing touches on your crown, making sure the shading and color match your natural teeth. Then he will permanently attach your new crown over your existing tooth structure and make any final adjustments to ensure a comfortable, balanced fit.
Benefits of CEREC Dental Crowns
Because Dr. Osterbauer completes your treatment from start to finish, you can expect a functional, attractive restoration that fits great – every time. CEREC crowns have a number of benefits including:
Complete treatment in one day for most cases – We practically eliminate the need for a dental lab.
A precise fit – Digital impressions are more accurate.
Comfortable impressions – No more gooey impression material that can cause a gag reflex.
Esthetic results – A beautiful, natural-looking ceramic restoration.
Affordable treatment – Because we eliminate the need for a lab, we pass the savings on to you.
Caring for Your Ceramic Crowns
As with all dentistry, maintaining healthy gums is essential to the health and longevity of your dentistry. Regular exams, professional cleanings, and wearing a nightguard, if you have a strong bite or a grinding habit, can all extend the life of your dental crowns.
