Starting your child off with good oral hygiene at home and professionally at an early age sets them up for a lifetime of good oral health. Good habits can set the tone for their early years as well as for their adult years.
Your Child’s First Dental Visit
If you avoid decay-causing habits such as bottle-feeding before bed and you have good home habits, we recommend bringing your child to our office for their first visit around their third birthday.
Our initial goal will be to familiarize them with our office so that they view their dental care as a fun learning experience. Our team is gifted at working with children and helping them learn about their teeth, the dental office, and good oral hygiene habits. At their first appointment, we will take them for a ride in the chair, brush their teeth, perform an oral exam, and polish their teeth, if necessary.
Parents are welcome in the treatment room and are encouraged to take pictures and make their first dental visit a milestone celebration.
Preventive Treatment for Kids
As your child grows, we will incorporate preventive dentistry to keep their smiles comfortable and healthy as well as to help them avoid decay. Regular dental exams, professional dental cleanings, diagnostic x-rays, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants can all protect your little ones' health now and in the future.
When Your Child Needs a Filling
As a parent, we understand you may have some anxiety if your child requires a filling. At St. Anthony Village Dentistry, we have experience and a gentle touch when it comes to treatment for all of our patients, including the littlest ones!
We will always make sure that your little one is comfortable. We will also avoid scary language that may cause anxiety and speak to your child in terms that they understand.
Decay is the most common preventable childhood disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We'll work with you to help you improve home care habits and nutrition so you can avoid dental decay in the future.
Ongoing Dental Care
As your child grows, we'll be there. In addition to supporting their oral health, we will monitor growth patterns that may require orthodontics. Intervening at an early age can help reduce overall treatment time for your child and can result in a healthier bite.
Misaligned teeth may cause jaw problems, decay, and unnecessary wear. Our preventive approach to care can help your little one have the best chance for a lifelong, healthy, comfortable smile.
